Brief note: crossing the Danxia on foot
Abstract
The 8th 'Crossing the Danxia' hiking event was held on 28 November 2015, under mostly cloudy and comfortable weather. Starting at 7 a.m., the route alternated between concrete roads, field paths, forest trails, steps, slopes and landslide sections; the concrete surface was flat but hard on the feet, while the soft field and forest paths proved the most memorable for participants.
The roughly 8000–9000-person crossing lasted 11 hours, with the effective cut-off at 6:30 p.m. Boer and its family-and-friends teams completed the event with all members of all three teams finishing.
