The industrial reinforcement skeleton of mineral fibres

BOER BE-series mineral fibres are made by high-temperature melting and wet-process fibreising, providing a reinforcement skeleton for friction, sealing and other materials: heat-resistant, low in shot, easy to disperse, with good interfacial bonding to resin and rubber.

Friction materials

Brake pads, brake shoes, clutch facings

The Boer friction materials series is used for disc brake pads, drum brake shoes, railway brake shoes, clutch facings and construction-machinery friction discs, acting as reinforcement in the formulation and improving high-temperature stability and fade resistance.

Disc / drum brake pads

High L/D ratio and low shot; uniform dispersion in the mix and good surface quality of the product.

Railway brake shoes / construction machinery

Heat-resistant (>1000℃), suited to heavy-load and high-temperature working conditions.

Clutch facings

Good bonding with phenolic resin, with fibres distributed evenly in the matrix.

Typical models: BE-SL05 (shot ≤1%), BE-S06 (L/D ≥150), BE-GL3, BE-G3, BE-B03 (white, melting point >1600℃) → Friction materials series details

Sealing materials

Asbestos-free gaskets and paper-based sheets

Used for asbestos-free eco-friendly gaskets and paper-based sheets made by roller-pressing or beater-add processes. The surface-treated fibres disperse well in water and adhere strongly to latex, improving tensile strength, heat resistance and dimensional stability of the sheet.

Roller-pressed gaskets

BE-SG21 (L/D ≥150), BE-SGL25 — reinforcement skeleton with good interfacial bonding.

Beater-add gaskets / paper-based sheets

BE-C08 (white, melting point >1600℃), BE-C06 — hydrophilic and fast-filtering, with good wet strength.

Asbestos-free compliance

Passes the SGS asbestos-free test, supporting export and eco-friendly formulation requirements.

Typical models: BE-SG21, BE-SGL25, BE-C08, BE-C06 → Sealing materials series details

Coatings & others

GBF short-cut fibres

GBF series short-cut fibres (grey-green, melting point >1000℃, L/D ≥25, shot <5%) are made by the wet process — hydrophilic, easy to disperse, non-irritating and low-dusting — for coatings, fillers and other industrial formulations.

Coating reinforcement

Short-cut fibres improve the crack resistance and heat resistance of coatings.

Filler modification

Works with other mineral fillers to improve the dimensional stability of products.

Custom development

Short-cut length and surface treatment can be adjusted by application.

Typical models: GBF-01 ~ GBF-06 (hydrophilic short-cut type)

Application & compliance evidence

  • Asbestos-free trend in the friction and sealing material industries: Boer fibres are asbestos-free man-made mineral fibres; SGS report CANEC25025290506 (2025-10-22) shows all 6 asbestos types not detected.
  • Environmental compliance: RoHS 10-substance (CANEC25025290502) and SVHC 250-substance (CANEC25025290504) tests passed; MSDS/SDS provided.
  • Quality management: ISO9001:2015 (registration 0350325Q30014R2S, valid until 2028-01-05).
  • Scope note: mineral fibres are a single-component reinforcement material; finished-product performance is determined by the overall formulation and is not promised by the fibre alone.
FAQ

10 things you may want to know about application selection

Q1Which fields can Boer mineral fibres be used in?
Mainly friction materials (disc / drum brake pads, railway brake shoes, clutch facings, construction-machinery friction discs), sealing materials (asbestos-free gaskets and paper-based sheets made by roller-pressing or beater-add), and industrial fields such as coatings and fillers.
Q2Which series should I choose for friction products?
For brake pads, brake shoes, clutch facings and other friction products, choose the fibres-for-friction-materials series (BE-SL05, BE-GL3, BE-S06, BE-G3, etc.), which acts as the reinforcement skeleton in the formulation. Typical model parameters and application scenarios are detailed on the friction materials series page in the Products section.
Q3Which series should I choose for sealing products?
For roller-pressed / beater-add asbestos-free gaskets and paper-based sheets, choose the fibres-for-sealing-materials series (BE-SG21, BE-SGL25, BE-C08, BE-C06, etc.). The surface-treated fibres are hydrophilic and disperse well, with good latex adhesion; typical models are detailed on the sealing materials series page.
Q4Which fibres are used for coatings?
For coatings and other industrial formulations, choose the GBF series short-cut fibres (grey-green, melting point >1000℃, L/D ≥25, shot <5%) — hydrophilic, easy to disperse, non-irritating and low-dusting, improving crack resistance and heat resistance of the coating. Specific parameters are subject to the batch test report.
Q5How do I select by process?
Tell Boer your product type (drum / disc pads, brake shoes, gaskets, paper-based sheets, coatings), process route and current formulation; the Boer technical team recommends models and provides samples. Final specifications are subject to the batch test report and written confirmation.
Q6What are the melting point and heat resistance of the fibres?
Standard models have a melting point above 1000℃; the white-fibre series (BE-B03, BE-B07, BE-C08) is above 1600℃, suited to high-temperature braking and sealing conditions. Specific parameters are subject to the batch test report.
Q7What about the shot content?
Shot consists of solid non-fibrous particles that affect product surface quality and friction performance. Boer's wet process brings the shot content of models such as BE-SL05 down to ≤1% (>125μm sieve), per the batch test report.
Q8Can mineral fibres replace asbestos?
Yes. Mineral fibres are one of the main reinforcement materials for the asbestos-free conversion of the friction and sealing material industries, typically combined with aramid pulp and cellulose fibres to build asbestos-free formulations. Boer fibres are asbestos-free man-made mineral fibres, passing the SGS asbestos-free test (CANEC25025290506, 6 asbestos types not detected) and meeting RoHS / SVHC requirements.
Q9Are samples and sampling support provided?
Samples of the BE series and GBF series, together with formulation tuning support, are available. Sample specifications, bulk packaging and commercial terms are subject to written confirmation.
Q10How do I contact Boer?
